Sedona - The location is simply magical and has been called, "The Most Beautiful Place in America."

Sedona is widely considered one of the major power centers on Earth, and is considered along with the Pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge, and Easter Island for places of interest from those seeking information regarding spiritual enlightenment from mother Earth. Sedona's major features include Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Boynton Canyon and Secret Canyon. Bell Rock is notable for the belief that it is a portal to other dimensions, and Anomalous Electrical readings have indeed been scientifically recorded in Sedona. Historically, Sedona was a rural ranching community located far off the beaten path, but its unsurpassed natural beauty became nationally known through the motion picture industry. Sedona History:Sedona's history started over 6,000 years ago with the first settlers to the area. Native Americans lived in and around the Sedona area in cave dwellings, some still exist today. In particular, the Hopi Indian's, in a feat that is still marveled at today, managed to grow Corn, Beans and Squash in an area that averages only 15-20 inches of rain per year.

Examples of the 4 or 5 story structures such as Montezuma's Castle or the Casa Grande ruins, built by various aboriginal cultures such as the Sinagua, Anasazi and the Hohokam, provide excellent examples of early life in the area, although why the last tribe disappeared around 500 years ago still remains a mystery.

Between 1870 and 1900 the first Non-Aboriginal settlers to the area began to homestead around the Verde Valley area. Because of the remoteness of the region, initial growth was slow but over time as more and more settlers arrived, the need for another postal station arose and T.C. Schnebly filled this void, naming the station after his wife, Sedona.

Today, Sedona Arizona has a population of approximately 21,500 residents with thousands of visitors each year enjoying the natural beauty and energy of the area. One of Sedona's more distinctive man-made attractions is the "Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village". Named for a picturesque suburb of Mexico's Queen City, Guadalajara, and meaning "the best of everything", the shopping center has become home to 40 unique shops filled with the works of local artisans and craftsmen. It is a unique blending of the old and the new, not unlike the city it resides in.

Sedona Geography:Sedona is a 19-square-mile city that is split between Coconino and Yavapai counties in northern Arizona. Only 51 percent of Sedona's area is privately owned - the rest of the land is part of the Coconino National Forest.

Sedona's elevation generally is considered to be 4,500 feet, though well-known red-rock formations extend to more than a mile-high elevation.Even Sedona's airport is located on a high mesa, is situated at an elevation of more than 4,800 feet. Almost the entire world knows that Sedona, strategically situated at the mouth of spectacular Oak Creek Canyon, is a unique place. Characterized by massive Red Rock formations, as well as the contrasting riparian areas of Oak Creek Canyon, the area surrounding this beloved community is considered at least as beautiful as many national parks.

The name, 'Sedona':The story about how Sedona was named is well known; nonetheless, a brief telling is appropriate. As the story goes, after Theodore Carl Schnebly and his wife, Sedona, moved to Sedona from Gorin, Missouri, the few families living here convinced T.C. to establish a post office in his large home, which already had become the community's hotel. Various interpretations of this story suggest that he asked the government to name the post office Schnebly Station or Red Rock Crossing. Subsequently, he was told the names were too long, and following a suggestion by his brother, Dorsey Ellsworth Schnebly, he submitted his wife's name, Sedona. And so it was.
