If you're looking for the ultimate experience when it comes to entertaining vacation destinations in the winter, then you need to visit Ober Gatlinburg. The first thing you need to know about Ober Gatlinburg is that it offers the best skiing in the Southeast. There are nine trails for all skill levels, the staff is well trained and the lines are never long. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent skis, snowboards, ski pants, jackets and helmets. If you're a beginner, don't fret. The staff here is very good at making you feel at ease. Beginners must take a class prior to hitting the slopes, but this class is short, fun and informative. You will be twice the skier after the class even though you have never skied before. All of this might sound exciting already, but Ober Gatlinburg offers a lot more than the average ski resort.

Tubing is another popular activity here. There are seven small slides to choose from. Each one is fast, fun and safe. The tubing sessions last one hour and thirty minutes, but in order to get a spot, you need to get there early. There are no reservations and it's a first come, first serve situation. You shouldn't have much problem getting a spot as long as you're not picky about your time slot. Tubing sessions begin at 9 a.m. and the last session begins at 7 p.m.

Believe it or not, Ober Gatlinburg's Alpine Slide is open in the winter as long as conditions allow. This is an adventurous ride where you control the speed as you weave your way down the mountain. You can go full speed on the straightaways, but be careful on those turns.

If you're traveling with family, then it's highly recommended that you visit Kiddie Land. Kids love this place despite its simplicity. The main reason is the playground, which has all types of cool features, including tunnels, ladders, slides and little hideaways. There are also circle cars and a chair swing to ride. The circle cars are especially popular with toddlers. The older kids get bored of going around and around after a while. The chair swing is a little faster and more suited for kids between 5 and 12.

Other great attractions for kids include a carousel, an ice skating rink and an arcade. The ice skating rink is in the center of the mall and has hundreds of skates to rent. The carousel is self-explanatory and always a big hit with younger children. The arcade features racecar games, motorcycle racing games, basketball shooting games and more. Kids can spend several hours in this large arcade without getting bored. It can also be a great option for parents who need a short break.

Everyone loves the Wildlife Encounter. You can see foxes, raccoons, flying squirrels, snakes, otters and more. The bears aren't available in the winter because they're hibernating. Bobcats will be arriving at the Wildlife Encounter soon.

Two other popular attractions that are similar to one another are the Scenic Chairlift and the Aerial Tramway. The Scenic Chairlift is the longest chairlift in the South. This is a great ride if you want great scenery as well as a chance for the perfect photo opportunity. Someone on the Ober Gatlinburg staff will take your picture. You have the option of buying the photo. The Aerial Tramway is 2.1 miles of scenic views of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. The Aerial Tramway begins in Downtown Gatlinburg and takes you way up high. These tramways can fit over 200 people, but that's rarely necessary.

As you can see, Ober Gatlinburg offers a tremendous amount of winter activities. It's the prefect destination for any family looking to stay busy. In addition to all the attractions, Ober Gatlinburg is also home to a popular fudge shop as well as a new deli that goes by the name of LeConti Deli. The food here is just as satisfying as the entertainment, which is saying a lot. A visit to Ober Gatlinburg is highly recommended.
